Zafarul Islam Khan is currently Chairman of Delhi Minority Commission, author and journalist based in New Delhi. He is currently editor and publisher of The Milli Gazette fortnightly focusing on issues concerning the Muslim community, which is a minority in India. He is also the founder and chairman of Charity Alliance, an organisation involved in relief and welfare work in India. Born on 12th March 1948, Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, India, he is associated as a chairman of Charity Alliance, which is involved in relief and welfare work in India. Early Life Zafarul Islam was born in Muslim family, from Maulana Wahiduddin Khan (father) and Sabea Khan (mother) in the city of Azamgarh, India. His father is a Muslim thinker and runs Islamic Centre in New Delhi. He was studying masters in Islamic history at Cairo University in 1978 and later he completed his Ph.D. in Islamic Studies from the University of Manchester in 1987. He is married to Habiba Ansari on 6th September 1972 and has a big family with seven children. Experience and Career Zafarul Islam started his career working as a translator (announcer) in Radio Cairo in 1972-73 and later he worked with a Libyan Foreign Minister as a translator (editor) from 1973 to 1979. During his Ph.D., he worked as a senior researcher in Muslim Institute, London, which helped him to experience different information related field. Returning back to India, he performed as a lecturer and expert in the methodology of research, Academy Staff College, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Being an editor, he has worked in Multimedia News and Features Services (London), Orient Press International News and Features Services (New Delhi), Muslim and Arab Perspectives (New Delhi), Journal of Islamic History (New Delhi), The Milli Gazette newspaper and Muslim India monthly magazine. He has been working so long for the Muslim community and during the interview in rediff.com he raised the voice about “no tangible proof of Muslim’s involvement in terrorism” in India. He is also famous for commentator radio and Television channels such as BBC Arabic and Jazeera. Besides his career in editing and journalism, he is also an author and has translated over 40 books in Arabic, English, and Urdu which was published internationally in the city of Kuwait, Cario, Beirut, London and Delhi since 1968.
