Rameshwar Nath Srivastava

Having obtained his B. Sc., B. Tech (Hons.) from Elect. Engg. (Power), F.I.E. (India), Rameshwar Nath Srivastava joined Central Electricity Authority of India.  
Details of his professional experience & important assignments:
i) Joined CEA in 1963 through Central Power Engineering Services and in 1997 took over as Chairman - CEA & Ex-officio Secretary to Govt. of India and coordinated along with Ministry of Power for overall  sectoral development & growth.
ii) Worked as Head of Planning, Ministry of Water & Electricity, Govt. of Abu Dhabi, UAE for five years from 1975-1980. 
iii) Worked as Director General, National Power Training Institute and responsible for the training & development of human resources engaged in the management of country’s power supply industry.
iv) Worked as Chairperson of various Committees constituted by G.O.l. from time to time such as:
- Committee to investigate northern grid failure 
-Site Selection Committee for Mega Hydro & Thermal projects in India
-Standing Committee on Power purchase Agreements of Private Power producers
-Advisory Committee on Generation (Thermal) -
CBI&P
-Arbitrator in the dispute between BSEB & Sijua Group to examine Fly Ash Utilization proposal
-Talcher Thermal Power Plant Accident Committee
v) Discharged responsibilities of Govt. of India nominee on the Board of following public sector undertakings/Regulatory Commission
(a) National thermal power corporation
(b) Neyveli Lignite Corporation
(c) Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd
d) Central Electricity Regulatory Commission
(e) Ex-member of Indian Member Committee, World Energy Council
(f) Member of Indian Member Committee, World Energy Council
 
Major Initiates as Chairman, Central Electricity Authority
 
( i) Formulation of policy documentation: power on demand by 2012 using state-of the-art planning models.
(ii) Conceptualization of national grid dovetailing with the perspective transmission plan up to 2012.
(iii) Constitution of national task force and finalisation of recommendations for availability Based Tariff to ensure stable grid operation.
(iv) Initiated concept for obtaining ISO certification for CEA, one of the first government organisation to do so.
(v) Successfully organised Silver Jubilee function of the CEA with detailed interaction & feedback from various stake holders.
(vi) Streamlining of projects techno-economic clearance procedure & through structural reform in the organisation and thus during the role of project development facilitator rather than a statutory project clearing agency.
(vii) As head of the organisation, was instrumental in reorienting the inter & intra organisation response behaviour through organisation development thus
making it more responsive and stakeholder friendly.
(viii) As held of the task force, coordinated the national efforts to mitigate Y2K problem related to power sector.
